Sheikh Qassem Expresses Optimism on S-S Efforts, But “All Options Are Possible”

sheikh_qasimHezbollah Deputy Secretary General Shiekh Naeem Qasim voices optimism that the Syrian-Saudi efforts would solve the political current crisis, however he warned that the “door will not be open forever”, adding that “all options are possible” according to the party after the Special Tribunal for Lebanon issues its indictment in the 2005 assassination of former premier Rafiq Hariri.

In an interview with the Lebanese daily as-Safir, Sheikh Qasim said: “there is hope Saudi-Syrian endeavors would generate a solution [for Lebanon] before the tribunal issues the indictment.”Shiite News reported.”There is still an opportunity to find a solution but the door will not remain open forever.”

When asked about Hezbollah’s next move after the STL issues its indictment, Shiekh Qasim said “all options are possible,” stressing that the part doesn’t “accept being wrongfully accused in” Hariri’s murder.

On a possible meeting between Hezbollah Secretary General Syed Hassan Nasrallah and Hariri, his eminence said there should be joint willingness to hold the talks and useful issues should be discussed so that the meeting becomes fruitful.

Sheikh Qasim also said that Lebanon might be affected “negatively or positively” by the upcoming STL moves.“We are keen on not harming Lebanon.”

During a television interview on Friday, the Deputy Secretary General said the indictment is politicized and not based on real evidence.”An indictment that accuses Hizbullah is not just a political stance, but an assault against the Resistance and Lebanon,” he said.
