Naim Qassem Pays Tribute to Hassan Nasrallah on Second Anniversary

Hassan Nasrallah Remains a Symbol of Resistance; Iran Will Progress Under Mojtaba Khamenei’s Leadership: Sheikh Naim Qassem

Shiite News: Hezbollah Secretary-General Sheikh Naim Qassem, addressing a gathering in Beirut’s southern suburbs marking the second anniversary of the deaths of Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah and Sayyed Hashem Safieddine, said that Nasrallah had become a symbol of resistance for those seeking freedom.

He said that although Nasrallah was no longer physically present, his ideas continued to serve as a source of determination and strength. Qassem reaffirmed that Hezbollah would continue following the path associated with Imam Khomeini, Iran’s Islamic leadership and Imam Musa al-Sadr, while keeping the Palestinian cause at the center of its efforts.

Sheikh Naim Qassem also paid tribute to Sayyed Hashem Safieddine, describing his life as one dedicated to jihad and service to Hezbollah. He referred to those injured in the pager explosions as “living martyrs” and said that the killing of commanders would not bring an end to the movement’s activities, as new leaders would continue their stated mission.

Qassem said that the stated objective of the resistance was to end Israeli occupation of Lebanese territory. He also argued that the movement had prevented what he described as further Israeli aggression and the establishment of new settlements in occupied areas.

The Hezbollah secretary-general reiterated that surrendering Lebanese territory was not acceptable and said that the country’s sovereignty and territorial integrity would be defended. He called on the Lebanese government to assist people affected by the war and announced that Hezbollah would soon present a major housing and reconstruction initiative. Recent reporting also confirms Qassem’s announcement of a project aimed at providing shelter and reconstruction assistance to displaced Lebanese residents.

Referring to inflation and the economic crisis, Qassem said Hezbollah was prepared to discuss the issue of its weapons, but linked such discussions to the complete liberation of southern Lebanon and the return of displaced residents to their homes. His position on disarmament and the return of residents was also reported following the anniversary address.

Commenting on international developments, he criticized what he described as weaknesses in international law and efforts toward U.S. dominance.

At the conclusion of his speech, Sheikh Naim Qassem praised the Iranian people, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps and Iran’s security forces. He expressed confidence that the Islamic Republic of Iran would continue its development and progress under the leadership of Ayatollah Sayyed Mojtaba Khamenei.
