Jumblatt: Elections on Time if No Security Operation Hits Lebanon

leb scolerThe National Struggle Front Leader, MP Walid Jumblatt, confirmed Saturday that his initiative is proactive and aims to avoid the repercussions of the Syrian crisis that began to appear on the Lebanese body, particularly the North.

In an interview with as-Safir Lebanese newspaper, Jumblatt admitted that his initiative failed until the moment to achieve a quantitative breach at the governmental file.
On the electoral level, the MP expected that “to cancel the scheduled elections is unlikely to happen unless a huge security operation changes the scene.”

Addressing both March 14 and March 8 camps, he said: “If you think that the elections will allow any team to twist the arm of the other party, then you are mistaken.”
In this context, Jumblatt viewed that ” winning an additional seat or two will not change the political balance on the ground.”
On the electoral law, Jumblatt predicted that “no other law than the 1960s will be adopted.”

He further revealed that he will visit Paris mid-December and might hold talks with the French President Francois Hollande.
