Hezbollah warns against Tribunal ‘baseless’ charges

Hezbollah has warned it would reject any “baseless” accusations the International Criminal Tribunal is about to charge against the movement over death of former Lebanese premier, Rafiq Hariri.

In an interview with Al-Alam TV on Friday, Hezbollah Deputy Secretary General, Sheikh Naim Qasem said based on “the reports and information on the contents of the court’s alleged bill of indictment and its accusation against Hezbollah, we can observe suspicious moves in this regard”.

Qasem warned that Hezbollah Resistance Movement would stand “firmly” against any actions taken by the Hague-based court.

The Hezbollah official further noted that “some parties think such baseless accusations will affect the relations between Hezbollah and Syria, but they are totally mistaken.”

He also warned that the alleged bill of indictment of the international court is pushing Lebanon toward an “unknown destiny.”
