Sunni cleric: Imam Hussein taught us to rise against the oppression

A Sunni member of Muslim Ulima Assembly in Lebanon highlighted the messages of Ashura as protecting the oppressed and rising against the oppressor.

Sheikh Zakaria Ghandour, prominent Lebanese cleric, hailed the messages of Ashura (martyrdom of Imam Hussein (A), the 3rd Shia Imam) and noted that it is a divine vow that the oppressed will be victorious over the oppressors, hence we will not be living with the oppressors forever.

He stressed the necessity of Muslim rulers to follow the lessons of Ashura and urged them to maintain piety because no one will lead an eternal worldly life.

He called Muslims to know their enemies and unite together based on their commonalities.

“We are commemorating the anniversary of a battle between the right and the injustice, a war which is still continuing in the world and in some countries it has turned into a civil war. “The Sunni cleric said.
