Judicial tribunal made for Rawalpindi’s Ashura incident dissolved
Shiite News: Judicial tribunal formed for judicial inquiry of Rawalpindi’s Ashura incident has been dissolved. High court’s Justice Mamoon ur Rasheed was a part of the tribunal which presented its report to Chief Justice of Lahore High Court Justice Ejaz ul Hassan which will be presented to the relevant authority after the legal process.
The attack which took place in Raja Bazar Rawalpindi on 15th November 2013 on Ashura killed 11 people and 25 were injured. The fire also burned Madarsa Taleem ul Quran and the Madina market. The case is now being heard at anti-terrorism court and 76 out of 77 arrested terrorists have been released whereas the terrorist Ameer Hussain is still in custody.
Former Chief Justice had taken the suo moto action of the incident. Statements of 110 officials of police, district administration and eyewitnesses, including the then RPO, CPO, Commissioner, DCO, Assistant Commissioner, were recorded by the judicial tribunal. Officials of Police and district administration declared it as a sudden accidental incident. After the dissolution of judicial tribunal, tribunal registrar has dismissed all staff people and had sent them to courts.
