Iranian FM: We Will Defend Iranian People’s Rights and Minab School Martyrs at UN

Shiite News: Iranian Foreign Minister Seyyed Abbas Araghchi, speaking to reporters after arriving in New York, said his visit was taking place amid what Iran describes as a war imposed on the country by the United States and Israel, with the situation continuing to remain a state of war. He said Iran’s primary objective was to use a major international platform to defend the rights, interests and position of the Iranian people before the international community.

Araghchi said the United Nations is the world’s largest international platform through which Iran can communicate its position to the international community. He said this year’s UN platform was particularly important for presenting the situation of the Iranian people and highlighting the plight of the victims of the Minab school incident.

He added that Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian would address the UN General Assembly and hold bilateral meetings with world leaders, intellectuals and media representatives. The president is also expected to give interviews to various media outlets during his visit.

Araghchi said he would also hold meetings with foreign ministers on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly to discuss bilateral relations, present Iran’s positions and pursue what he described as the country’s national interests. Iran is also scheduled to participate in meetings of organizations including the Organization of Islamic Cooperation and the Non-Aligned Movement during the UNGA week.
