Raising Voice for Our Rights Is Our Constitutional Right; Why Are You Afraid of Peaceful Rallies? Senator Allama Raja Nasir Abbas

Shiite News: Vice Chairman of the Tehreek Tahafuz-e-Aain Pakistan and Leader of the Opposition in the Senate, Senator Allama Raja Nasir Abbas, said that in every civilized society, raising one’s voice for basic rights is considered a legitimate and peaceful way of expression, and the Constitution and law also allow it. He questioned why the government allows Jamaat-e-Islami and Maulana Fazlur Rehman to hold marches and rallies across the country but is allegedly afraid of peaceful rallies by PTI and their allies. He said that all Pakistanis have the fundamental right to peaceful protest.

Allama Raja Nasir Abbas stressed that peaceful rallies have always produced results, while violent actions are not justified. Criticizing the government, he alleged that it does not follow the decisions of the Supreme Court and judiciary and instead renders the judiciary ineffective. He said legal avenues are being closed for them while they are also being expected not to raise their voices. He questioned whether Pakistan belongs only to those in power, with one law for some and another for others.

The Leader of the Opposition in the Senate said that the government had already been issuing threats that orders had been given to open fire. He condemned the arrest of PTI founder Imran Khan’s sister, saying she had been detained under the 3-MPO and transferred to Kot Lakhpat Jail on the grounds that she posed a threat to public order. Current reports confirm that Aleema Khan was detained for 30 days under Section 3 of the Maintenance of Public Order Ordinance.

He described the government’s conduct as “fascism” and said that women such as Dr Yasmin Rashid had been declared terrorists. Allama Raja Nasir Abbas strongly demanded that Imran Khan be provided with his fundamental rights.
