Lahore: Rally and sit-in against Sheikh Nimr’s execution in Cantt

A protest rally was carried out from Imambargah Darbar e Hussain (as) in Cantt area of Lahore to Bhatta Chowk by Shia Muslims against Sheikh Nimr’s execution. The rally after reaching Bhatta Chowk changed into a sit-in and demonstrators registered their protest against inhumane policies of Saudi Arabia. Protestors were holding play cards on which slogans against Sheikh Nimr’s execution and injustices to innocent Nigerians by the Nigerian army were written. General Secretary of the administrative committee of Imambargah Darbar e Hussain (as) Ashraf Bhatti while addressing demonstrators said “Innocent Sheikh Baqar al-Nimr was executed in Saudi Arabia along with his companions just for raising his voice for truth and Haq. He was a Shia scholar who raised his voice against the Yazeediat of the day and raising voice for basic human rights is no crime, international community should also raise voice against it”. He also expressed solidarity with oppressed Shias of Saudi Arabia and also condemned the autocracy of House of Saud.
