Khi: Highly educated Terrorist belong to Hizbul Tahreer arrested
The personnel of counter terrorism police on Tuesday claimed to have arrested an IBA graduate, who allegedly has links with banned terrorists’ outfits, from a posh area of Karachi.
SSP Mazhar Mashwani, speaking to media, disclosed that two target killers were arrested couple of days ago; of them one is a professor identified as Owais Raheel.
He said the arrested professor belong to banned Hizbul-ul-Tahreer. He was nabbed from Boat Basin area in Clifton.
The suspect, Raheel, targeted educated youngsters in the Defence and Clifton areas to use them “for illegal activities”.
He graduated from the Institute of Business Administration (IBA) and the NED University of Engineering and Technology and joined the banned HT in 2007, said a senior official.
Within eight years, he added, Owais became a key member of the group that defied Pakistan’s democratic system and aimed to implement “Khilafa” in the country.
Police said they had also recovered from his possession several pamphlets of the organisation which he used to distribute outside mosques.
