Resistance Ended Greater “Israel” Dream, LA: Guard of National Unity

hasan nasrullaThe Secretary General of Hizbullah His Eminence Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah delivered a speech on the 12th occasion of the Resistance and Liberation Day.

Under the title, “A Homeland Victory…A Dawn of A Nation,” His Eminence congratulated all Lebanese people, Arab, and Islamic nation on the occasion.”On this day, the blood conquered the sword,” he stressed.

We Thank All Efforts in Releasing Syria’s Hostages

Sayyed Nasrallah commented on the release of the kidnapped Lebanese by Syrian rebels.
“On this day, we have witnessed a happy ending to this painful incident…It is our moral duty to thank all who exerted efforts in this case,” he confirmed.

During his speech, which was displayed on a large screen in Bint Jbeil, south Lebanon, Sayyed Nasrallah thanked the Syrian authorities, particularly the Syrian President Bashar al-Assad for ensuring the release of the kidnapped people and providing an airplane to transfer the women to Beirut.

Similarly, the Secretary General of Hizbullah thanked the Lebanese President Michel Suleiman, House Speaker Nabih Berri, Prime Minister Najib Mikati, former PM Saad Hariri, and all Lebanese officials who spared no effort to ensure the release of the abductees.
Sayyed Nasrallah thanked all regional sides especially the Turkish officials for their help in the resolving this painful incident.

On the same level, His Eminence thanked the people and families who caught their emotions and responded to calls for calm.
Sayyed Nasrallah also thanked the Iraqi PM Nouri al-Maliki for all what he has done after the martyrdom of Lebanese women upon their visit for the Holy Shrines there. “Al-Maliki will ensure the return of the wounded visitors to Lebanon on board a private jet,” His Eminence informed.
His Eminence urged people not to carry out land religious pilgrimages because the recent incidents could happen again and would lead, God forbid, to strife.

In parallel, the Secretary General of Hizbullah called all people to abstain from the Lebanese habit of taking to the streets, burning tires, or violating public and private property whenever any incident emerges in the Lebanese scene.

“Protesting and blocking roads is useless,” he said, pointing out “this habit is an unethical sin.”

Not to Change Convictions on Syria

Addressing the abductors, Sayyed Nasrallah said “we condemned the act from the first minute.”

“You will not succeed in pressuring us to alter our political position. We are the type of people, who won’t give up convictions and principles under pressure,” he confirmed and highlighted that “the rebels’ strategy in kidnapping people for pressuring the Syrian authorities to release some of the detainees is dangerous and wrong.”

His Eminence stated that “Hizbullah’s stance regarding the Syrian crisis is based on information and a regional vision.”

Resistance Foiled US-“Israeli” Project

On another issue, Sayyed Nasrallah viewed “in the past, the Lebanese government used to follow the saying that “Lebanon’s strength is in its weakness.”

He further mentioned that “these governments did not adopt a defense
strategy to protect the country, the people, and particularly the South.”
Sayyed Nasrallah recalled how the kidnapped Imam Mousa al-Sader was obliged to call on the Southern people to defend their land and dignity in face of the “Israeli” aggressions. “As the state chose to dissociate itself from its responsibilities and refused to deploy the Lebanese Army in the South, the Southern people found no way but to launch the popular resistance, at that stage.”

He hailed all the sides that participated in the resistance: “The Palestinian brothers had an essential role in this resistance through incubating the popular and various resistance factions,” His Eminence highlighted.

Moreover, Sayyed Nasrallah called to consider the 2000 Liberation Day a national day of celebration as the Southern territories were restored back with full dignity and without any conditions.
“Through its efforts and sacrifices, this resistance eventually forced the “Israeli” enemy to withdraw from most of the occupied Lebanese territories in 2000,” he clarified.

According to the Secretary General of Hizbullah, “with its awareness, the resistance foiled “Israeli” attempts to ignite the strife.”
“On that day, the “Israelis” withdrew quickly from Southern Lebanon and left the agents of Antoine Lahad without warning them. By this, “Israel” thought that the supposed resistance’s revenge would lead to a civil war,” Sayyed Nasrallah said.

His Eminence mentioned that “They plotted against Lahad’s army. However, the resistance behaved in an ethical way with the collaborators.”
He confirmed that “in 2000, the resistance succeeded in defeating the “Israeli”-American project in the region,” and acknowledged that “through their occupation, the “Israelis” sought not to leave Lebanon.”
“There are documents that prove that “Israel” had ambitions in our water and land,” His Eminence added and noted that “from the beginning of the resistance, it was obvious that Lebanon has started to come out of the “Israeli” era.”

In addition, Sayyed Nasrallah addressed all those who question the resistance role by saying: “During the past twelve years, “Israel” didn’t dare to attack Lebanese bordering villages or the country’s sovereignty.”
“Neither the United Nations nor the Arab countries are the ones that protect Lebanon, but the equation of the army, people, and resistance,” he confirmed.

Regarding the “Israeli” establishment to a separation wall along the borders with Kfar Kila Southern town, Sayyed Nasrallah viewed “the “Israeli” move after its 2000 withdrawal forms the beginning of the end of “Israel’s” project to establish the Greater “Israel”.”
“Today, on the border with occupied Palestine, there are people who do not throw stones at the Zionists, but are ready to launch all kinds of missiles on all “Israeli” usurped territory,” the Secretary General of Hizbullah reiterated.

In this context, His Eminence quoted one of the “Israeli” officials as saying: “I’ve never imagined that there would come a day when the “Israeli” army would have to flee from confrontation with the Arabs.”
“Hizbullah proved that there is another type of Arab people,” the “Israeli” official confirmed.

The LA Must Be Protected

Concerning the internal Lebanese developments, Sayyed Nasrallah asserted that all Lebanese parties possess weapons.
Urging all sides, he called for discussing arms out of the Lebanese state, including the weapons of the resistance.

“The resistance weapons succeeded in recording achievements, but what had the other sides’ weapons accomplish?” His Eminence wondered and responded to the claims that “since there is chaos of arms in Lebanon, then we should tackle the resistance’s arms.”

Sayyed Nasrallah stated that “all these sides should instead incorporate the arms within the equation of the army, people, and resistance,” and revealed that “there has never been national consensus on the resistance.”
“The Lebanese state is the only one in charge of the security of the people and the land. We are not responsible for security, it the state that is responsible,” His Eminence stressed.
Sayyed Nasrallah said the military institution was the only guarantor of civil peace in the country. “We should protect it; defend its capabilities and morale.”

On the recent Akkar incident, his eminence clarified that “at the end of the day, the incident in Akkar that led to the death of both Sheikh Ahmad Abdul Wahid and Mohammad al-Mereb, is regrettable, sad and condemned.”
“However, the Lebanese army should be fortified for the sake of all Lebanese regions,” His Eminence added and reminded of several incidents in which Hizbullah called people to calm down despite the Lebanese Army’s shooting on protesters.

“In 1993, the Lebanese Army, based on a political decision, shot at protesters in Beirut which led to the death and injury of more than 50 persons. Did we attack the army? Did we call for its withdrawal from our regions? We did call for punishing them but nothing happened,” Sayyed Nasrallah emphasized.
He highlighted that: “The army should be protected for the sake of all martyrs and the Lebanese people.”

We Support National Dialogue

Meanwhile, Sayyed Nasrallah also held political campaigns and the media responsible for stirring sectarian tensions.
“Before holding the government responsible, political leaderships and the media should be held responsible for provoking sectarian tensions,” His Eminence explained.

He warned that if sectarian tension remains to be triggered, political leaders would not be able to control the behavior of people on the streets.
“Where was the government when the clashes erupted in Tariq al-Jedideh? Why should clashes erupt after a security authority arrested a wanted individual?” the Secretary General of Hizbullah wondered, to come to a conclusion that “the Lebanese army and security forces should be granted all that they need in order to avert future clashes.”

He also reiterated that “away from alleged claims, Hizbullah has demanded the acceleration of the Islamist detainee trials since the first day.”
His Eminence further expressed support to President Michel Suleiman’s recent call for resumption of national dialogue sessions without preconditions, and criticized all those who set conditions on a return to dialogue.

“I officially announce today that Hizbullah agrees to a return to the national dialogue table without preconditions,” He announced.
Sayyed Nasrallah clarified that “those who call on the government to resign ahead of dialogue seek power and not dialogue.”
