Hezbollah urges action against Israel

“This is a premeditated crime against humanity by the Israelis,” Hezbollah lawmaker Hassan Fadlallah was quoted by AFP on Monday.Â
“This crime illustrates to the world Israel’s savagery and the way they deal with unarmed civilians,” he added.Â
The Israeli navy stormed the Freedom Flotilla earlier on Monday, killing at least 20 people, mostly Turkish nationals and injuring 50 others, al-Aqsa television reported.Â
The Israeli navy escorted the vessels to the port of Ashdod.Fadlallah said that the activists detained following the raid should be considered hostages and the UN must act quickly to denounce Israel’s actions.Â
“If they fail to act quickly to lift the siege on the Palestinians and to denounce Israel for its crimes as well as save the hostages, the situation in the region will get worse,” he warned.Â
Hundreds of Lebanese and Palestinians demonstrated in front the UN headquarters in Beirut to protest against the Israel’s attacks.Â
The United Nations Security Council is scheduled to hold a meeting regarding the brutal assault later on Monday.Â
The humanitarian convoy was carrying thousands of tons of supplies and hundreds of politicians, activists and journalists.Â
The Flotilla was seeking to break Israel’s crippling blockade of Gaza and deliver basic necessities to the impoverished Palestinians living in the coastal enclave
