Suleiman: Calls for ’Jihad’ against LA Futile

sul 1Lebanese President, Michel Suleiman, stressed that Ahmad Al-Assir’s call for “jihad” against the Lebanese Army was futile.

He further affirmed that the Lebanese Army institution has been furnished with political cover to duly respond to such acts.
“Calls for “jihad” against the Lebanese Army will neither gain listening ears,” the President confirmed.

In a statement issued by the Lebanese Presidency, Suleiman voiced a stark warning to the Lebanese citizens, warning them from getting “politically involved at the expense of the Lebanese Army’s bloodshed.”

Moreover, he profoundly valued the efforts and sacrifices of the LA, and hailed the way by which most of the Lebanese rallied around this state institution.
The army has soldiers that are willing to make sacrifices regardless of how great they may be,” stressed the presidency statement.

“Lebanon is strong because it enjoys a brave military leadership that commits to political decisions,” it said.
He also offered Lebanese Army Commander, Jean Qahwaji, his heartfelt condolences with the loss of Army members.
