Millions of Shiite Muslims celebrate Eid Ghadir in holy city of Najaf, Iraq
Millions of Iraqi Muslims in particularly Shiites celebrated Eid-e-Ghadeer with religious fervor.
Iraqis and Shiite pilgrims around the world gathered at the holy shrine of Ameer-al Maumineen Imam Ali (AS) in Najaf. The holy city of najaf and the holy shrine wore a bride look.
The premises of the holy shrine was decorated with extraordinary lights, bulbs, buntings, etc. Maddahan-e-Ahl-e-Bait (AS) recited qaseedas (eulogy) to pay rich tribute, homage and respect to the 1st infallible Imam.
Religious scholars spoke at the largely attended congregations. They highlighted the background of Eid-e-Ghadeer.
On this historical and auspicious day (18th of Zil Hijjah of the year 10 A.H. on the divine orders of Allah Almighty (SWT), the Holy Prophet of Islam (S.A.W.) after the “Farewell Hajj” at Ghadir Khumm near Makkah Mukarramah formally declared Imam Ali (A.S.) as “The Immediate Imam and Caliph of the Muslims after the Holy Prophet of Islam (S.A.W.).”
