Bahrain Shia Ulema Assembly Condemns Insult to Grand Ayatollh Sistani

Aytullah_SistaniStrongly condemning recent outrageous remarks against grand Ayatollah Sistani, Bahrain’s Shia Ulema (scholars) Assembly said the remarks were out of ignorance.

In a statement issued in response to the insulting comments against grand Ayatollah Sistani, Chairman of the assembly, Seyyed Majid Al-Mash’al, criticized those who committed the abominable act, and said, “It is regrettable to hear that the platform of Friday prayer has become  a venue for expanding seditious remarks and baseless statements targeting religious sects. More surprisingly, such attitude is conducted by those possessing power in the legislative and administrative body.”

Elsewhere is the statement, Al-Mash’al considered insult to grand Ayatollah Sistani as an attack to one of the most prominent Shia clerics, and said such remarks would lead to division and weakening the sense of solidarity among the Islamic Ummah.

“Grand Ayatollah Sistani has played a significant role in establishing peace and security in post-war Iraq,” he underlined, urging authorities to take necessary measures in order to bring the offenders to justice.

In his speech delivered on Dec 3 at Sabikah Mosque in Bahrain, Preacher of Friday prayer groundlessly accused grand Ayatollah Sistani of taking bribes in exchange for keeping silent towards the US-led invasion of Iraq (!)
