MWM possesses strong position in GB election: Mirza Yousuf

All Pakistan Shia Action Committee leader, Allama Mirza Yousuf said that Majlis Wahdate Muslimeen (MWM) grabbed the strong position in the upcoming general elections for the Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) Legislative Assembly to be held on June 8.

Talking to Islam Times, a Lebanon-based news resource, he said that the people of GB satisfied with the efforts made by MWM for their region. He said that the MWM introduced finest welfare activities program for the people of GB as compared to other Shia parties, including Islami Tehreek of Pakistan.

“MWM can win at least five seats in the elections from Skardu, because MWM possessed the vibrant welfare activities in this region that motivated the public towards them. In Gilgit, Wahdate Muslimeen is in good electoral position, and could gain mind blowing results,” he maintained.

Talking about Islami Tehreek of Pakistan, formerly known as Tehrek-e-Jafaria Pakistan, he said that this party had failed to deliver to the people of GB despite the party was given 10 years ruling time. When it was in rule, Islami Tehreek had voiced for fifth province but never practically worked for this slogan, he maintained.

He said that the people now rejected this party; now the political situation went against the party of Allama Sajid Ali Naqvi as no one was here to even accept his party tickets.

“I appreciate MWM leader Allama Raja Nasir Abbas who offered to do all for making a Shia alliance at any cost in this election. However, I depreciate Islami Tehreek of Pakistan for its electoral alliance with PML-N. Everyone knows which Shia party stands along with the nation in the time of grief. PML-N wants to use Islami Tehreek in GB to divide Shia community in the elections. Allama Sajid Ali Naqvi has forgotten the fact that Shia nation does not like PML-N, which is the product of Taliban mentality. Nawaz League polices towards Yemen crisis aggravated the people of GB; the PM Nawaz Sharif has lost his lingering credibility,” Allama Yousuf said.

He warned the Shia leadership that in absence of Shia alliance the external forces, including PML-N and PPP, would take full benefit in the general elections for the Gilgit-Baltistan Legislative Assembly.
