Madrasa System Needs to Be Strengthened According to National Needs, Says Ayatollah Hafiz Riyaz Najafi

Shiite News: President of Wifaq-ul-Madaris al-Shia Pakistan, Ayatollah Hafiz Syed Riyaz Hussain Najafi, has stressed the need to further strengthen the madrasa system in accordance with the country’s prevailing conditions and national needs. He made these remarks while addressing a joint meeting of the Wifaq-ul-Madaris al-Shia cabinet and regional representatives.

In his address, he highlighted the importance of adhering to the Holy Quran and described the teaching, sincerity and punctuality of prominent Pakistani religious scholars Maulana Muhammad Yar Shah Najafi, Maulana Safdar Hussain Najafi and Maulana Mohsin Ali Najafi as exemplary models for scholars and students.

Ayatollah Hafiz Riyaz Najafi urged regional representatives to make comprehensive visits to madrasas and spend at least three to four hours at each institution so that they could better understand the concerns and needs of teachers and students. Speaking about the history of Shia madrasas in Pakistan, he said that the journey of religious education, which began with Bab-ul-Uloom Multan in 1932, has now expanded to more than 700 madrasas, where around 24,000 male and female students are currently enrolled.

During the meeting, he strongly urged teachers and students to maintain punctuality in congregational prayers, teaching and meal times. He said every student should be taught prayer and its translation and encouraged them to develop the habit of reciting at least one Juz of the Holy Quran every day.
