Need to Further Strengthen the Scholarly Role of the Ja’fari School in Islamic Banking, Says Allama Dr. Shabbir Hasan Mithmi

Shiite News: Chairman of the Al-Sadiq Institute of Islamic Banking, Finance and Takaful and Secretary-General of the Shia Ulema Council Pakistan, Allama Dr. Shabbir Hasan Mithmi, delivered a special address at a conference titled “Islamic Banking Today and Our Responsibility.” In his address, he emphasized the urgent need to further strengthen and expand the formal representation and scholarly role of the Ja’fari school of thought in the field of Islamic banking.

Reviewing the current state of Islamic banking and the challenges facing the sector, he stressed the importance of promoting research and practical work on sound academic and scholarly foundations.

Allama Dr. Shabbir Hasan Mithmi said that the Al-Sadiq Institute of Islamic Banking has been actively representing the jurisprudential and scholarly perspective of the Ja’fari school in the field of Islamic banking and that these efforts are now being expanded in a more organized, active and effective manner.

He urged students of banking, finance and economics to enter the field after developing a strong understanding of modern financial systems and the requirements of Islamic finance, so that they could use their academic and professional capabilities to provide better guidance to the Muslim community. He said that Islamic banking has undeniable importance in the present circumstances and that services provided in this field could have far-reaching consequences in the future.

At the conclusion of the conference, Allama Dr. Shabbir Hasan Mithmi and distinguished members of the State Bank of Pakistan distributed awards among high-performing students and encouraged them for their academic dedication and efforts.
