Security Operations in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa: 10 Militants Killed, 6 Pakistan Army Soldiers Martyred

Shiite News: Security forces carried out operations and engaged militants in several areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, resulting in 10 militants being killed, while six Pakistan Army soldiers were killed in an IED attack, according to Pakistan’s military media wing, Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR). The reported incidents took place between September 15 and 17, 2026.

According to ISPR, security forces conducted an intelligence-based operation in North Waziristan from September 15 to 17 after receiving information about the presence of militants. Following an exchange of fire, six militants were killed, according to the military. In a separate encounter in Hangu district, four more militants were killed, bringing the reported total to 10. Weapons and ammunition were also recovered, the ISPR said.

ISPR further stated that on September 17, an improvised explosive device targeted a security forces convoy, resulting in the deaths of six Pakistan Army soldiers. Clearance operations were subsequently launched in the affected areas to locate any remaining militants.

The military said the militants had been involved in attacks in the area and described them as members of Fitna-al-Khawarij, a term used by Pakistan’s military. The military also alleged that the group was India-backed; that allegation was presented by the Pakistani authorities and was not independently verified in the reports reviewed.

The ISPR said counterterrorism operations under the Azm-e-Istehkam framework would continue and that clearance operations remained underway in the affected areas.
