Yemenis mark birth anniversary of Prophet Muhammad

On September 28, millions of Muslims in Yemen celebrate the birthday of the Prophet Muhammad in a celebration known as Mawlid an-Nabi, or Milad Eve. On the initiative of the late Imam Khomeini Rabi’ al-Awwal 12 to 17 (September 28 to October 2) was named Unity Week.

Based on the Sunni Muslims’ narration Rabi’ al-Awwal 12 is the birthday of the Grand Prophet of Islam Muhammad (PBUH), and based on the Shia Muslims’ narration Rabi 17 is the birthday of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).
