Jordan king denounces ISIL as ‘global threat’

The Jordanian king says the ISIL Takfiri group embodies “a global threat” verging on “a third world war.”

Jordan’s King Abdullah, who is in Washington for talks with US President Barack Obama, said in an interview with CBS News on Friday that the campaign against ISIL terrorists reflects a struggle between “good and evil.”

Abdullah called for a “pan-regional” approach in the fight against ISIL Takfiri terrorists, saying all the nations should take part in anti-ISIL campaign and “stand up and say what is right and what is wrong.”

“I hope the short term part of it [anti-ISIL campaign] is going to be the military, the medium term is the security aspect of it. But the long term is going to be the ideological one,” he added.
Jordan is one of five Arab countries supporting the so-called US-led bombing campaign against ISIL which began on August 8 in Iraq. Since late September, the US and its Arab allies have been conducting airstrikes against ISIL positions inside Syria as well, without any authorization from Damascus or a UN mandate.

This is while some Jordanian sources have revealed that groups of ISIL Takfiri terrorists received training to use light and heavy weapons with the help of the US government at a secret base in Jordan back in 2012.

Earlier in November, former Jordanian prime minister, Marouf al-Bakhit, said that hundreds of Jordanians have so far joined the ranks of ISIL Takfiri terrorists.

The ISIL terrorists currently control large swathes of territory across Syria and Iraq. They have committed terrible atrocities in both countries, including mass executions and beheading of local residents as well as foreign nationals.
