Parliamentary Voice Must Be Strengthened, Not Weakened: MWM Representatives’ Role Praised
Parliamentary Voice Must Be Strengthened, Not Weakened; Effective Role of Majlis Wahdat-e-Muslimeen Representatives Commended
Shiite News: As problems continue to persist in the country, a question is often raised: what is the benefit of repeatedly highlighting issues and raising voices in the National Assembly, Senate, or provincial assemblies? Experts say the answer lies in the spirit of the Constitution and the parliamentary system. The fundamental responsibilities of members of the National and Provincial Assemblies and the Senate include legislation, representing the public, raising issues on the floor of the House, and holding the government accountable. Every significant discussion in the House becomes part of the parliamentary proceedings, while questions, calling-attention notices, resolutions, and standing committees serve as important mechanisms for effective parliamentary oversight.
In this context, the performance of the parliamentary representatives of Majlis Wahdat-e-Muslimeen Pakistan is noteworthy. Senator Allama Raja Nasir Abbas Jafri, Engineer Hamid Hussain, Maysam Kazim, and Asad Abbas have openly raised issues concerning national security, constitutional rights, marginalized communities, and public concerns in their respective Houses. Their efforts, the article states, are not limited to speeches but also seek to hold the government accountable and demand practical measures. It emphasizes that silencing the parliamentary voice does not eliminate problems; rather, continuously raising them through constitutional and democratic means is a path toward finding solutions.

The responsibility of an elected representative is to take the voice of the people to Parliament, while the government has a responsibility to listen and respond. The four parliamentary leaders of Majlis Wahdat-e-Muslimeen have been actively raising their voices on various occasions, which represents an important opportunity for the Shia community. We should strengthen, rather than weaken, the voice of our representatives and make Parliament more effective within the framework of the Constitution.
