Opposition Decides to Maintain Long March and Protest on September 27

Shiite News: Opposition parties have decided to proceed with the protest and long march scheduled for September 27. The decision was taken at a joint parliamentary party meeting chaired by Mahmood Khan Achakzai. Raja Nasir Abbas, Barrister Gohar Ali Khan, Shahid Khattak, Asad Qaiser, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi, Salman Akram Raja and other leaders attended the meeting. The participants discussed the country’s political situation, the health of PTI founder Imran Khan, implementation of Supreme Court orders, and the opposition’s future political strategy.

Opposition leaders expressed deep concern over the health of the PTI founder and said no compromise would be accepted regarding his health or treatment. In its statement, the opposition alleged that the government had staged a drama over the former prime minister’s health. Expressing serious concern over the alleged non-implementation of Supreme Court orders, the opposition said the government had committed contempt of court by failing to comply with the judicial ruling.

The joint parliamentary party decided to approach the Supreme Court over the contempt-of-court issue. The decision to hold a strong PTI protest on September 27 was also reaffirmed, while the parties agreed to invite all opposition groups to participate in the protest and long march.

The meeting also decided to accelerate the public outreach campaign across the country, including Punjab, and expressed a commitment to continue joint efforts to protect the Constitution, democracy, and the rule of law. Participants strongly supported the establishment of a Grand Opposition Alliance and agreed to make it active. The participation of Maulana Fazlur Rehman and other opposition parties was also welcomed.
