Shia Muslims, their shops were attacked in Khairpur, 12 injured

buletTerrorists belonging to a banned terrorist outfit Sipah-e-Sahaba set 5 shops and many cabins of Shia Muslims on fire on Phool Bagh Road Khairpur on Thursday night. At least a dozen persons were injured due to firing of terrorists and police on Shia protestors on Friday.

Shia men injured in the firing of Wahabi-Nasabi terrorists and biased Police of Khairpur are Enayat Hussain, Danial Sheikh, Ali Reza Thalon, Qamar Shah, Sohail Shah, Bashir Rajpur, Farhan Khandharon and others.

According to Shiite News Correspondent, Activists of outlawed Nasabi-Wahabi outfit of Sipah-e-Yazeed set alight shops of Shia Muslims in Naya Goth, Panjpulla Chowk, and Moilahalla Ali Murad areas on Thursday night.
Assailants also attempted to set ablaze a crockery shop owned by former senator Pakistan Muslim League – Funtional (PML-F) Sajid Hussain Zaidi, but police had thwarted the attempt.
Shia Muslims staged a protest on Friday against Thursday night’s burning of shops/cabins. Biased police backed the banned outfit’s terrorists and both of them opened fire on the protestors that left at least a dozen injured.

Reports had it that a biased DIG Police Amin Shaikh was supporting the banned outfit that encouraged them to the extent that they resorted to burning and firing.

Tension prevailed in Punj Gullah Chowk area, and some other parts of Khairpur. The SSP Irfan Baloch has asked people to remain indoor till they restore peace in the tense areas.

Protestors were raising slogans against the banned terrorist outfit, terrorism and terrorists. They also condemned collusion of police with the banned outfit.

Shia organizations and leaders have also condemned the incidents of burning and firing. They demanded immediate action against the terrorists and those officials of police and administration who back the banned outfit. People of the affected areas were witnessing curfew-like situation.

It is also relevant to add here that biased officials collusion emboldened the banned outfit and they had lodged false cases against 12 Shia lawyers for their legal battle in defence of Shia Muslims. After lawyer fraternity’s boycott of court proceedings, cases were withdrawn.

The Express Tribune quoted the Deputy Commissioner Khairpur Ghulam Abbas Baloch said that the clashes began when a Sunni-owned shop was set ablaze in response to a Shia-owned paan kiosk being set on fire.
Baloch said that the police resorted to shelling in order to control the situation. He added that the people who are involved in inciting the clash will be arrested for interrogation.
Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Police Sukkur Dr Amir Ahmed, while claiming that the situation was “95% under control”, rejected reports of a possible curfew being imposed in the area and said that the people were only asked to remain in their houses for the time being.
He said that clerics from both the sects will be drawn into negotiations and that this time the police will settle the matter “once and for all
