17-Year-Old Girl Dies After Alleged Sexual Assault; Five Suspects Reportedly Linked to Banned Lashkar-e-Jhangvi

Shiite News: A 17-year-old girl died after an alleged sexual assault in Sandha village of Mandi Bahauddin district. According to police, the incident occurred within the jurisdiction of Miana Gondal Police Station. The girl’s father told police that he was not at home when the suspects allegedly abducted his daughter and assaulted her before leaving her at home. Her condition subsequently deteriorated, and she later died.

Police have registered a case and launched an investigation. Authorities initially proceeded under Section 322 of the Pakistan Penal Code concerning an unlawful act resulting in death. Police said, however, that the exact cause of the girl’s death and conclusive evidence regarding the alleged assault would be established after the medical examination and forensic analysis. Police also found marks on the girl’s wrists and are investigating the circumstances surrounding them.

Local residents and human rights organizations strongly condemned the incident and called for strict action against those responsible. They urged the Punjab government to take immediate notice of the case and ensure that the suspects are brought to justice.
