Death sentence to LeJ terrorist in Madinatul Ilm bombing case upheld. Sindh High Court rejected plea of M Tehseen of banned terror outfit Lashkar-e-Jhangvi (LeJ).

The lawyer for Tehseen Niaz alias Arshad sought his acquittal but Jafaria Legal Aid lawyer Tasawwur Rizvi argued against him.

Due to that, SHC upheld death sentence to LeJ terrorist in Madinatul Ilm bombing case.

An anti terrorism court had awarded death sentence to notorious terrorist of outlawed takfiri Deobandi outfit in March 2007.

Furthermore, ATC also awarded 10 years imprisonment under explosive substance charges and seven years in prison for possessing illegal weapons with a fine of Rs10,000.

Subsequently, he filed an appeal with SHC.

On April 2, 2007, a division bench of the SHC comprising Justice Muhammad Afzal Soomro and Justice Rehmat Hussain Jaffery admitted appeal for hearing.

Mdinatul Ilm Tragedy May 30, 2005

A suicide bomber  blew himself up during evening prayers at the Shiite mosque Madinatul Ilm in  Karachi. Due to May 30 (2005) suicide bombing many Shia Muslims embraced martyrdom and injuries.

Police officer Asif Aijaz said that three attackers stole an automatic weapon from a police guard outside the mosque before shooting him dead.
