Mikati: Israel must withdraw from our occupied territories

mikatiLebanese Prime Minister Najib Mikati stressed that Lebanon adheres to the policy of self-dissociation from the Syrian crisis. He further warned of the repercussions of this crisis which threatens the region’s stability.

Addressing the United Nations’ 67th General Assembly, Mikati confirmed that “Lebanon remains committed to 1701 resolution.”

In parallel, Mikati urged the international community to pressure “Israel” to immediately withdraw from the occupied Ghajar and Shebaa farms.

Moreover, the premier reiterated Lebanon’s firmness in protecting its oil wealth and exclusive economic zone as set by international law and in accordance with the UN agreement on maritime law.

“Lebanon is to defend its rights with all means,” he affirmed.
On another level, Mikati urged the UN to protect the right of the Palestinian people to return to their homeland and achieve an independent Palestinian state with al-Quds as its capital.

“Stability can’t occur without a Palestinian spring through the full implementation of the Palestinians right to self-determination on their land,” he added.

On another level, Mikati announced Lebanon’s rejection to offends against religions and sanctities, and emphasized “the need for dialogue among civilizations, respect of religions and the continuation of the Lebanese dialogue.”

“Peace coupled with freedom and justice can provide security and stability to the world, and put an end to tyranny ,extremism, terrorism as well as to domination of people,” he concluded.
