Leader: Enemies target people, religion

Concurrent with the birth anniversary of the 8th Infallible Imam of the Prophet of Islam, Mohammad (PBUH) Household, Imam Reza (AS) on Tuesday, and in an address to glorious and massive gathering of the people of the holy city of Qom, Ayatollah Khamenei said that the Iranian nation’s resistance and steadfastness against the enemies and the people’s loyalty to the Islamic Revolution are the root causes of  the foes’ propaganda campaign and hype against people’s religion.

The Leader of Islamic Revolution pointed out that all the ploys of the enemies against the religion of people and their conspiracies against the loyalty of Iranian nation have failed, while noting that the enemies imagined they can separate the people from the sacred Islamic system. But the people’s loyalty and commitment has increased day by day.

He considered promotion of the two ideas of “Islam in the absence of clergy”, and “apolitical Islam” as the enemies’ scheme in their strenuous efforts to target the people’s religion, and attached importance on the presence of people revolving round the pivot of religious and Islamic teachings.

The Leader of Islamic Revolution also referred to intensification of sanctions against the Iranian nation and stressed that given the major achievements that are registered on daily basis, the people are full of hopes about the future, and stand against and nullify the enemies’ plots.

The Leader of Islamic Revolution further enumerated the existing approaches for ever-increasing development and for countering the enemies’ plots as the solidarity of people with the three branches of government; fulfillment of the ideological needs of youths by the clerics; youths’ efforts to promote insight and develop science; and movement in line with the country’s comprehensive scientific outline.

In further remarks, the Leader of Islamic Revolution referred to the holy city of Qom as the most religious Iranian city, as the origin of the uprising of the Founder of Islamic Republic of Iran, late Imam Khomeini (May his soul rest in peace), and the Islamic Revolution, while reminding that the international community should know this revolution is religious in nature and a materialistic interpretation of the Islamic Revolution is impossible.
