suc lock Islami Tehrik Pakistan has announced that three of its candidates would be fielded to contest elections 2013 from Karachi’s constituencies to National Assembly and Sindh Assembly. Haider Naqvi, spokesman for the Shia Ulema Council disclosed here that the SUC would contest the elections as Islami Tehrik Pakistan and lock and key would be its symbol. He said that the SUC leader Allama Nazir Abbas Taqvi, Allama Qambar Abbas and Allama Jafar Subhani would be nominated as the candidates from Jafar-e-Tayyar Malir, Pehlwan Goth-Gulistan-e-Jauhar and Soldier Bazaar-Martin Road respectively. “These candidates of ours will be contesting the elections to National Assembly and Sindh Assembly fall in the limits of the said areas,” SUC spokesman said. He cited that Abbas Panjwani, a candidate of the Muttahida Majlis-e-Amal (MMA) to which Allama Sajid Naqvi’s party was a member, had won the 2002 Elections from PS-117 but MQM’s candidate got changed the result overnight. Allama Jafar Subhani contested the election in 2008. Answering a question, he said, efforts were being made to field joint candidates of Shia parties including the IST and Majlis-e-Wahdat-e-Muslimeen. He admitted that plots were being hatched by the enemies to divide the Shia vote-bank.
