Notification issued to police officials for registering FIR against mourning congregations and processions
Secretary of Muharram Committee Muzaffar Ali Akunzada had filed a case in Peshawar High Court against arrests, FIRs registered against mourning congregations and processions during Muharram ul Haram and efforts to sabotage mourning programs in KPK. The court, in response to the case, has issued a notification to KPK government, administration and police officials. According to secretary of Muharram Committee Muzaffar Ali Akhunzada, he had challenged all the FIRs that were registered against mourning congregations and processions, including the ones that were registered against congregations held inside homes. He also told that KPK government, Chief Secretary, Home secretary and police officials of KPK were made parties to the case. He said “according to articles 8, 12, 15, 17 and 20 of the constitution we have complete religious freedom”.
In the notification issued by the court officials were directed not to create any hindrances in mourning processions and congregations on Chehlum. Next hearing of the case will take place next month.
