“Discriminatory Treatment by Administration Is Unacceptable,” Says Allama Ramzan Tauqeer

Shiite News: Central Vice President of the Shia Ulema Council of Pakistan, Allama Ramzan Tauqeer, along with other Shia community leaders, has expressed serious concerns over what they described as discriminatory conduct by the local administration.

Addressing a joint press conference, they said that denying the Shia community permission to hold a procession in connection with the celebrations of Eid Milad-un-Nabi (PBUH) was a clear violation of fundamental rights, causing deep concern and distress among the Shia community.

Allama Ramzan Tauqeer stated that every citizen has the right to organize religious programs according to their beliefs. However, he alleged that the district administration was giving one group greater freedom while depriving another of its rights, treating them as second-class citizens.

He warned that if the administration did not abandon what he described as its biased approach and failed to accept the Shia community’s demands, Shia religious leaders and organizations would consult one another and announce a future course of action.

Allama Ghanzafar Ali Naqvi, preacher of the Central Jamia Mosque Latto Faqir, and Tanveer Hussain Rizvi, president of the Anjuman Mutawallian, also demanded equal treatment for all citizens regarding religious freedom within the framework of the law.

Representatives of Majlis Wahdat-e-Muslimeen and other Shia organizations also attended the press conference. They strongly condemned what they described as obstacles to peaceful processions and unjustified arrests, and unanimously called for equal rights for all citizens.
