Threat of terrorist attacks on police’s offices and residential areas in Karachi

At a time when a counter terrorism operation has been going on in Karachi on one hand, and law enforcement agencies on the other hand, are also making security arrangements for Chehlum (40th Day) of martyrs of Karbala, it has been revealed by intelligence agencies that terrorists have been planning to attack offices of police and security departments and jails. Intelligence agencies have informed senior leadership about terrorists’ plans after which the construction of security walls around police offices, police’s residential areas have been speed up in order to thwart terrorists attack. According to information, after the threat of attacks on police and rangers and reports of intelligence agencies it has been decided that strict security measure would be taken for police offices and residential areas licated in sensitive areas of the city.

The construction work regarding security walls have been going on at police offices and residential colony in Garden Headquarters, SIU office, adjacent flats in Saddar and at offices in CTD civil line. According to police officials, the decision was taken after bombs were found outside CTD’s civil line office. On the other hand, after declaring CTD building as sub jail the request for making it bomb proof has also been sent to senior leadership.

Due to threats of terrorist attacks on law enforcement agencies checking and investigation of suspected people coming to police stations of different areas have also been started. It should be clear that with the target killing of police officials, terrorist elements have also started targeting Sindh Rangers in Karachi. In a recent target attack on 20th November terrorists fired upon Rangers’ mobile and killed 4 personnel after which Sindh Rangers had announced to further speed up the operation whereas a bomb was discovered outside CTD office in civil lines on Monday. The bomb was hidden in a shopping bag in parking area.
