Araghchi Holds Talks on Islamabad Agreement, Regional Issues with Foreign Ministers

Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has held a series of telephone conversations with his counterparts from Pakistan, Egypt, the UAE, the UK, and Romania, discussing the Islamabad agreement and the latest regional developments.

In a call with Pakistani Foreign Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar on Friday, Araghchi expressed gratitude for Pakistan’s hospitality during President Masoud Pezeshkian’s recent visit to Islamabad and expressed hope that agreements reached during the trip would be seriously pursued and implemented at various levels.

Dar, in turn, briefed Araghchi on Pakistani officials’ efforts to secure the release of Iranian crew members from the Lenor-Davina vessel.

The two ministers reviewed the latest diplomatic developments and emphasized continued cooperation and close consultations aimed at establishing lasting peace and stability in the region.

Araghchi also spoke with Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty, discussing regional developments and the latest status of ongoing diplomatic processes between Iran and the United States aimed at maintaining peace and stability in West Asia.

In a separate conversation with UAE Foreign Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the two sides exchanged views on regional developments in light of the understanding reached between Iran and the US.

The UAE minister stressed the importance of continued dialogue and diplomatic approaches, expressing hope that the current diplomatic process would lead to constructive outcomes for regional peace, security, and stability.

Araghchi also held a phone call with UK Foreign Secretary Yvette Cooper, briefing her on the latest negotiations, progress made in implementing agreements, and ongoing consultations.

Both sides reviewed bilateral and regional developments and emphasized continued diplomatic consultations to support regional stability, advance the negotiation process, and achieve positive and lasting results.

In a conversation with Romanian Foreign Minister Ana Tuyo, Araghchi elaborated on the latest developments regarding the implementation of the memorandum of understanding and Iran’s perspectives on the matter.

The Romanian minister welcomed ongoing diplomatic efforts to reduce tensions in West Asia and stressed the importance of continuing this process and implementing mutual commitments by relevant parties.

Both sides emphasized the need for continued consultations and the development of bilateral cooperation in the period ahead.

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian and US President Donald Trump formally signed a 14-point Islamabad memorandum of understanding (MoU) on June 18, with the text finalized and the agreement officially in effect, following months of intensive negotiations mediated by Pakistan, with support from other regional countries.

Under the MoU, the two sides have entered a 60-day negotiation period, with the goal of reaching a comprehensive final agreement.

The MoU calls for a permanent end to hostilities across all fronts, including Lebanon, phased lifting of US sanctions, removal of the naval blockade on Iran, and restoration of commercial traffic through the Strait of Hormuz within 30 days.
