Pakistan’s Interior Minister Syed Mohsin Raza Naqvi is headed to Tehran to meet with high-ranking Iranian officials, says a report.

Naqvi left Islamabad for Tehran on Saturday to discuss the progress of negotiations between Iran and the United States, IRNA news agency said, quoting an unnamed source.

This marks Naqvi’s latest visit to Tehran since Pakistan began its mediation efforts following US-Israeli aggression against the Islamic Republic in late February.

During his previous trip on June 7, he had meetings with Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi and Interior Minister Eskandar Momeni.

Pakistan mediated a ceasefire between Tehran and Washington, which took effect on April 8.

Since then, Pakistani officials have been regularly visiting the US and Iran to broker a permanent peace agreement between the two countries.

On Wednesday, the presidents of Iran and the United States formally signed the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).

Pakistani Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif congratulated Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, Iran’s leadership, and the Iranian people following the signing of the MoU, highlighting the positive implications of this agreement for regional stability and cooperation between Iran and Pakistan.

The 14-point MoU, signed remotely by Pezeshkian and US President Donald Trump, calls for a permanent end to hostilities across all fronts, including Lebanon, oil export waivers, the removal of the US naval blockade on Iran within 30 days, and the restoration of commercial traffic through the Strait of Hormuz.

The draft agreement also includes a reconstruction and economic development plan for Iran worth at least $300 billion, the phased lifting of US sanctions, the release of Iran’s frozen assets, and a renewed Iranian commitment not to develop nuclear weapons, while further negotiations continue over Tehran’s enriched uranium stockpile.
