Doctors arrested for assisting Taliban released

Karachi: According to Dawn news, Counter Terrorism Department had told Judicial Magistrate that three doctors, arrested last month for providing medical aid to terrorists, had been released.

Dr. Saad Ullah Khan, Zubair Mirza and Rizwan were arrested in October for providing medical aid to terrorists named Abdul Rehman and Abdullah at a hospital in Bahadarabad.

CTD initially claimed that arrested doctors provided medical aid to those terrorists of banned Tehreek e Taliban who got injured during fights in Afghanistan. They were also alleged for not informing police about that.

However, a report was presented in the court of District east’s judicial court yesterday according to act 69 of Criminal Proceeding Code in which it was said that the doctors were found innocent during investigation. The doctors did not know that they were providing treatment to terrorists. Report said that an administrative officer of the hospital admitted those injured terrorists in the hospital.

According to prosecutor, CTD raided on Zubaida Medical Centre on 5th October and arrested two suspected terrorists and had also arrested the hospital staff present at the time for providing medical aid to terrorists.
