Asif Zardari had expelled Islamic University’s rector on Saudi Pressure

Shiite news sources have received a secret news form Saudi consulate according to which former President of Pakistan Asif Ali Zardari had expelled the anti- Israel rector of International Islamic University upon Saudi pressure in 2012.

According to the report, Saudi foreign minister has accepted in a telegram that Asif Zardari had told a Saudi ambassador in a meeting that the then vice-chancellor of Qaid e Azam University Dr. Masoom Yasi Zai had been assigned as acting rector of International Islamic University and anti-Israel Professor Dr. Fatah Muhammad Malik had been expelled.

It should be clear that Saudi officials had complained Asif Ali Zardari, during his era of governance that International Islamic University was established to promote modern Islam and the university also receives a huge amount of financial aid from Saudi Arabia and other oil producing countries but despite this the teachings against takfiri ideology has been going on in the university. On this, Zardari expelled the anti-Israel professor Fatah Muhammad Malik.

It needs to be mentioned here that the Saudi official clearly mentioned Zardari that when the university was established during Zia ul Haq’s era, it was ensured that Wahhabi ideology would be promoted but Dr. Fatah Muhammad Malik was against both Israel and Wahhabi ideology.

According to the report, the problem was created between Saudi official and Dr. Fatah due to a seminar held at the university against extremism during which Dr. Fatah talked against Israeli occupation and Saudi kingship and strongly condemned the atrocities committed by them.

On the other hand, Dr. Fatah Muhammad Malik says that Asif Zardari first told him to continue working on his post but later on Zardari told him that he could not further tolerate Saudi pressure and therefore expelled him from the university’s post.

Saudi sources had accused Dr. Fatah for declaring Saudi officials and kings as followers of ‘Abu Lahab’, who had nothing to do with Islam, and also criticized Saudi Arabia’s policies against women, Saudi officials and police.

Dr. Fatah told that he was first forcefully sent on leave, upon Saudi pressure, and was then expelled from the university.
