Larijani warns Trump over threat to target Iran’s electricity infrastructure

Iran’s Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council Ali Larijani has condemned US President Donald Trump for threatening to destroy Iran’s electricity infrastructure, vowing that such an action would lead to severe consequences.

Larijani’s remarks followed Trump’s statement that the US could dismantle Iran’s electricity capacity within one hour, but had refrained from doing so.

“Trump has said, ‘we can take apart Iran’s electric capacity within one hour, but we have not done it.’ Well, if they do that, the whole region will go dark in less than half an hour, and darkness provides ample opportunity to hunt down US servicemen running for safety,” Larijani said in a statement.

The Iranian security chief’s comments come amid escalating US and Israeli atrocities, with American forces repeatedly targeting Iranian civilian sites.

The US has already attacked schools, hospitals, and historical landmarks, killing nearly 170 schoolgirls in a single attack.

Trump, who has flip-flopped on the rationale for his aggression — at one point claiming to support the Iranian people against the Islamic Republic, and later shifting to targeting Iran’s nuclear program, which he claimed to have obliterated in June — continues to issue threats aimed at crippling the country’s infrastructure.

In a separate message on X, Larijani responded to Trump’s assertion that he was seeking a “speedy victory” in the war.

“While starting a war is easy, it cannot be won with a few tweets,” Larijani said. “We will not relent until making you sorry for this grave miscalculation.”
The US-Israeli aggression, which entered its 13th day on Thursday, has so far killed more than 1,400 Iranian civilians, including children, and attacked non-military sites, among them schools and hospitals.

In retaliation for the war, the naval and aerospace units of Iran’s Armed Forces have launched massive missile strikes against US military assets in regional countries and on targets in the Israeli-occupied territories since the onset of the war.

Iran’s escalating strikes have prompted Washington to close its embassies in regional countries, urging Americans to flee the region.
