Toxic Smoke Rising from Iran Begins Moving Toward Pakistan

Shiite News: The sky over Iran’s capital Tehran remained covered with thick black smoke for the second consecutive day due to a massive fire at oil installations, causing severe air pollution in the area. Reports indicate that the toxic smoke is now moving toward Pakistan with the help of westerly winds.
The Pakistan Meteorological Department has warned that polluted particles rising from Iran may reach western districts of Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, potentially affecting air quality in Quetta, Chaman, Zhob, Chaghi, Peshawar and Dera Ismail Khan.
Meteorological experts say that westerly winds can carry these toxic particles, particularly PM2.5, thousands of kilometers. The dry climate and dusty winds of Balochistan may further spread the particles across the region.
According to the Meteorological Department, the chances of black rain in Pakistan are low; however, the Air Quality Index (AQI) may increase significantly, raising concerns about higher levels of air pollution. The situation is considered particularly alarming for residents of Quetta, which already faces air pollution issues.
Medical experts say that children, elderly people, asthma patients and pregnant women could be more vulnerable to the effects of the polluted air, which may lead to respiratory illnesses, eye irritation and increased heart-related complications.
