Iran says talks with US limited to nuclear file, Oman cites potential

Talks between Iran and the United States are limited strictly to nuclear-related issues, with no discussions on other topics, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said on Friday.

Speaking to IRNA, Araghchi stressed that Tehran has made its position clear to Washington during recent contacts.

“The topic of our dialogue [with Washington] is only the nuclear issue, we are not negotiating with the United States on any other topics,” he said.

According to the minister, Iran conveyed this stance to US representatives during discussions held in Oman.

Araghchi: Negotiations must remain calm
Araghchi underlined that further Iran-US talks should continue in a calm atmosphere, free from pressure or threats.

“Of course, negotiations on nuclear issues and the resolution of key issues should take place in a calm atmosphere, without tension and threats. It was mentioned. Any dialogue presupposes that it is necessary to refrain from threats and pressure. We have made that clear today,” he explained.

The remarks come amid ongoing diplomatic efforts aimed at addressing disputes related to Iran’s nuclear program.

Oman says Muscat talks identify areas for progress
Omani Foreign Minister Badr Al-Busaidi said that recent Iran-US talks in Muscat were serious and helped clarify positions on both sides.

Describing the discussions as serious and constructive, Omani Foreign Minister Badr Al-Busaidi published a post earlier today on X saying the Muscat talks clarified Iranian and US positions and outlined possible paths toward progress.
Oman has historically played a mediating role in indirect negotiations between Tehran and Washington.

Distrust looms over talks
The talks come against the backdrop of a growing US military buildup in the region, alongside renewed threats and accusations directed at Iran, developments that Tehran has warned could further destabilize regional security.

Iran is entering the indirect talks with deep skepticism, shaped by what officials describe as the bitter legacy of five previous rounds of talks with Washington. Those negotiations ultimately collapsed following military strikes by “Israel” and the United States on Iranian nuclear facilities, leaving trust as one of Tehran’s central concerns in the current process.

The latest round of negotiations has been the subject of intense speculation over the past week, with reports suggesting they came close to being called off altogether before the delegations confirmed their participation.
