Constructive Meeting Between Iranian President, Army Chief Asim Munir and Interior Minister Marks Important Progress

Shiite News: Pakistan’s Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi and Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir held an important and productive meeting with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian in Tehran. In a post on X, Naqvi described the diplomatic and political engagement as highly positive, saying the two sides held constructive discussions on the current regional situation. The meeting was reported on August 25, 2026.

According to Naqvi, key topics included the ongoing Iran-U.S. conflict, tensions in the Middle East, possible ways forward, and steps required by both sides to restore the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). He said restoration of the memorandum could contribute to a comprehensive resolution of the conflict.

Naqvi said the Iranian president openly presented his government’s position and concerns, while the participants held a constructive exchange on the issues under discussion. He described the meeting as having concluded in a highly positive atmosphere.
