Iran Honours Pakistani Poet Masooma Shirazi at “Peer-e-Ghulamān wa Khādimān-e-Hussaini Conference”
Shiite News: The Islamic Republic of Iran has awarded a special honour to renowned Pakistani poet, author and literary figure Masooma Shirazi, during the prestigious Peer-e-Ghulamān wa Khādimān-e-Hussaini Conference, an annual international gathering dedicated to the custodians of Azadari.
This conference, now in its 22nd year is held each year in a historic city of Iran, bringing together poets, zakireen, noha reciters and devotional artists from various countries.
This year’s three-day programme, held from 12–14 November, featured several sessions at the Holy Shrine of Imam Ali ibn Musa al-Reza (A.S.), with distinguished personalities from Pakistan, India, Turkey, Iraq, Afghanistan, Germany, Oman, Azerbaijan, Algeria and Africa in attendance.
At this year’s ceremony, Masooma Shirazi, representing Karachi, Pakistan, was honoured with the distinguished title of “Peer-e-Ghulam”—a symbolic designation bestowed upon those who have dedicated their entire lives to serving the remembrance of Imam Hussain (A.S.). This honour is a revival of the legacy of Hazrat Habib ibn Mazahir, symbolising lifelong devotion, humility and spiritual servitude in the path of Karbala.
Iran holds the status of “Peer-e-Ghulam” in exceptionally high esteem. A dedicated Iranian publication titled “Peer Ghulam” regularly documents the lives and services of senior devotees, highlighting their contributions to Azadari and offering posthumous tributes.
According to scholars of Irfan, the title “Ghulam” ranks above “Khādim,” for the former represents the surrender of body and soul entirely to the will of the Master—mirroring the supreme sacrifice of Imam Hussain (A.S.) in the path of divine love.
Leading Iranian scholars conducted intellectual sessions exploring the ideological, philosophical and spiritual dimensions of Azadari, while zakireen and noha reciters from across the world presented their heartfelt tributes.
A memorable “Shab-e-Sher” (poetic night) inspired the audience, with poets from Iran and other countries sharing powerful verses infused with love for Ahlul Bayt (A.S.).
