Hundreds of thousands of Shiites stage sit-in on M A Jinnah Road
Hundreds of thousands of Shiites have filled the main M.A. Jinnah Road Karachi after Friday prayers to protest against the genocide of Shia Muslims in Pakistan.
Tens of thousands of women and children have emboldened the male members of their community in a peaceful protest.
Shia Ulema Council has made special arrangements to in accordance with the long duration of the sit-in. The SUC has rallied support of almost all Shia parties and groups mainly the Majlis-e-Wahdat-e-Muslimeen (MWM) and Imamia Students Organization (ISO).
The protestors are clad in black suits and wore forehead bands inscribed with Labbaik Ya Hussain (AS), Labbaik Ya Mahdi (AS) and also hoisting flags and banners.
The Shia parties have unanimously demanded of the government to launch a crackdown on the notorious terrorists of outlawed Sipah-e-Sahaba/Lashkar-e-Jhangvi/Taliban.
Allama Nazir Abbas Taqvi of SUC and Maulana Sadiq Raza Taqvi of the MWM were representing their parties to lead the protest. The will also speak to the protestors. Senior religious scholars have also joined the protest.
The protestors will offer Namaz-e-Maghribain and after that Dua-e-Kumail will be recited. Noha Khuwans and matami anjumans will recite nohas throughout the night. Fajr prayer will also be offered there.
The main M.A. Jinnah Road and the mausoleum of founder of Pakistan Mohammad Ali Jinnah is reverberating with the slogans of Labbaik Ya Hussain (AS).
