Allama Azhar Kazmi released after Shiites’ stiff protest
Renowned religious scholar Allama Azhar Kazmi, arrested by Jhang police, was released after five hours stiff protest of the Shiites of Jhang district on Tuesday.
As soon as news of Allama Azhar Kazmi’s arrest spread, Shiites got angered. They came out on streets and staged sit-in on main roads. Faisalabad Road, Khushab Road, Sargodha Road and Multan Road were completely blocked. Traffic remained suspended for five hours.
The stiff protest compelled the administration to release Allama Azhar Kazmi. He reached the spot of protest and spoke to the protestors. He said that Shiites are righteous people and they have no illegal, unlawful or immoral intents. He said that Shiites demand for legitimate rights and that is a constitutional demand.
