Police, rangers attack funeral procession of Allama Aftab Jafri, 2 Shia youths martyred, 2 injured
Two Shia youths were martyred and two others were injured due to firing of rangers and police cops upon the funeral procession of martyr Allama Aftab Haider Jafri on Tuesday night.
After namaz-e-janaza at Numaish, M.A. Jinnah Road, the funeral procession was passing through main Liaquatabad Road in district central of Karachi. The participants of the procession were chanting slogans of Labbaik Ya Hussain (AS) when the police and rangers cops opened fire upon the participants of the funeral procession near Liaquatabad Dak-Khana (Post Office) stop.
As a result of the firing, two Shia youths were reported martyred and two fell injured. The bodies of the martyr and the injured victims were rushed to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for postmortem and treatment respectively.
Tough eye-witnesses have confirmed the martyrdom of two Shia youths, unconfirmed reports say at least three Shiites embraced martyrdom.
The martyrs were identified as Wasim resident of Hassan Colony and Ali. One of the injured was identified as Faraz Haider.
The funeral procession was stopped at Liaquatabad for time being. The martyr leader of Majlis Wahdat-e-Muslimeen Agha Aftab Haider Jafri will be laid to rest in Wadi-e-Hussain (AS) graveyard on super highway.
