At least two person embraced martyrdom and dozens injured due to huge explosion in the Burhani Mosque of Shia Ismaili Bohra Community near Aram Bagh Area of Karachi on Friday noon.

Backgrounder: Bohra Community is known as Bohri among Pakistanis. Bohra defines their profession that they hail from business community but religiously they are Shia Muslims and followers of Ismaili Branch unlike Aga Khanis who too are Ismaili Shia but they follow Prince Karim Aga Khan as their 49th Imam. Shia Ismailis are divided into two main branches Mustaali and Nazari. Bohra are Mustaali and Aga Khanis are Nazari school of thought.

Majority of Shia Muslims are Twelvers (Isna Ashrari) that means they follow 12 infallible leaders as Imams since the sad demise of Hazrat Mohammad (PBUH), last apostle and Prophet of God. Other branches of Shia Islam share views of Isna Ashari or Twelver Shia Muslims that Imam Ali (AS) was infallible leader of Islamic Ummah soon after the sad demise of Hazrat Mohammad (PBUH) and then leadership goes to his two sons respectively and from Imam Hussain (AS) it transferred to the infallible son after the martyrdom of Imams.

As compared to Twelver Shia Muslims, Ismailis are known as 6 Imamis.
