Even Parveen Rahman’s murderer is Deobandi terrorist held in Mansehra
The prime suspect in the murder of Orangi Pilot Project Director Perween Rahman was arrested Thursday during a joint operation conducted by Karachi and Mansehra police in Mansehra. She was killed in Karachi. Deobandi terrorist Ahmed Khan alias Pappu Kashmiri was held on an intelligence report.
Police further said that the suspect will be presented before a district and sessions court in Mansehra shortly. Police said he confessed to have assassinated Parveen Rehman but not yet disclosed who ordered him to kill her.
Perween Rehman, a media-shy social worker who devoted her life to the development of the impoverished neighbourhoods across the country, was gunned down near her office in Karachi’s Orangi Town on March 13, 2013.
The very next day, police killed a Deobandi Taliban terrorist named Qari Bilal in an encounter and claimed he was the murderer, resulting in a closure of the case.
Last year on April 15, the Supreme Court of Pakistan had ordered authorities to conduct a fresh probe into Rehman’s murder after a judicial inquiry had revealed that police officers had manipulated the investigation.
