Pakistan and Iran agree to expand transportation and transit ties.

Sistan and Baluchestan road department managing director referred to an agreement. Under that they would develop infrastructure for transfer of goods and transit between Sistan-Balouchestan and Pakistan‘s Balochistan.

Furthermore, Ayoub Kord cited Sistan-Balouchestan’s various capacities. He said they have provided suitable ground in transportation and transit fields for regional countries, especially Pakistan.

During the joint meeting between Sistan-Balouchestan and Balochistan provinces, both sides discussed six-month to one-year visa for Iranian drivers. They also discussed facilitating reconstruction of Quetta-Taftan road.

Moreover, both sides explored the possibility for the commuting of trucks carrying Iranian merchandise to all destinations in Pakistan. Besides, they discussed discharging goods at the same spot as for the Pakistani fleet in Iran.

Regarding implementation of the TIR Convention, Iran will follow up on the implementation of CMR Convention by Pakistani officials.

Passenger train service

However, Ayoub Kord also highlighted the importance of giving services to Pakistani pilgrims and also other tourists.

He said both countries agreed to launch train service to transfer some of the passengers from road transpiration to the railway system.

Moreover, he told Pakistani officials that Iranian people respect individuals such as Allama Iqbal and Mohammad Ali Jinnah and other Pakistani figures.

Similarly, he pointed to the fact that Pakistanis respect late founder of the Islamic Revolution Imam Khomeini and incumbent Supreme Leader Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei.

Gwadar and Makran

The Sistan Balouchestan governor general noted the latent but significant capacities in Gwadar and Makran ports. He said that could benefit both for the two nations and the entire world.

Furthermore, he said investment in them as complementary to each other can benefit both Iran and Pakistan.

However, he also referred to external powers who do not want Islamic states such as Iran and Pakistan make progress. Hence such alien powers are trying to create discord and insecurity, Mohebati said.
