Pakistan government has turned down Afghan allegation of shelling along the border, saying Pakistan responded to terror attack.

In this regard, Ministry of Foreign Affair issued a statement. That categorically stated: “As a matter of policy, Pakistan does not fire across the Pak-Afghan border.”

Furthermore, it said that cross-border terrorist attacks on army/FC posts are responded to in self-defence only.

Moreover, it cited that Pakistan already shared location of these terrorist camps along the border with the Afghan government, formally.

Pakistan asked government of Afghanistan to deploy its forces in these areas to bring it under their effective control. Kabul was also asked to address the issue of cross-border sanctuaries in accordance with “mutual understanding on these issues”.

The statement came in response to Afghan Permanent Representative at the UN Adela Raz’s letter to the UNSC president.

Notably, the letter had alleged “continued violations of the territory of Afghanistan by military forces of Pakistan”.

Also, it mentioned shelling of districts in eastern parts of Afghanistan; construction of military posts and barriers on Afghan territory and violation of Afghan airspace by Pakistani military aircraft.
