Israel abducts 115 Palestinians in al-Quds in 17 days

Israeli forces have abducted at least 115 Palestinians, including 30 minors, in East Jerusalem al-Quds since the beginning of December.

The chairman of the Prisoners’ Relatives Committee in al-Quds (Jerusalem), Amjad Abu Asab, said on Tuesday that over the past 17 days as many as 79 Palestinians have been arrested during raids on their homes by Israeli forces and 36 others were detained at Israeli military check points in the area.

He further said that most of the abductions were made in the town of Ras al-Amud where Israeli forces detained 23 Palestinians. He also noted that 20 other Palestinians were nabbed in the al-Thawri neighborhood and the rest of the detainees were taken from different neighborhoods and villages in al-Quds.

The Palestinian Prisoners Society had previously said that Israel kidnapped as many as 549 Palestinians from East Jerusalem al-Quds and the occupied West Bank in November.

A previous report by the NGO said that approximately 7,000 Palestinians, including 16 women and 250 children, are in Israeli jails.

Back in June, tens of Palestinian prisoners, who had been on a hunger strike in protest against Israel’s so-called administrative detention, were hospitalized over health problems.

Administrative detention is a sort of imprisonment without trial or charges that allows Israel to incarcerate Palestinians for up to six months.
