The Syrian Arab Army’s 9th Armored Division – in cooperation with Hezbollah– has progressed southwest towards the strategic town of Tal Al-Harra after fierce clashes with the Syrian Al-Qaeda branch “Jabhat Al-Nusra in Kafr Nissaj.
For the first time in three months, the 9th Division has been able to see Tal Harra since their withdrawal from the town during the Jabhat Al-Nusra and Syrian Revolutionaries Front (SRF) offensive in Fall 2014.
At Kafr Shamis, the SAA’s 7th Mechanized Division continued their offensive in this town, advancing towards the northern plains, while killing 18 militants from Jabhat Al-Nusra and the Free Syrian Army’s 1st Brigade.
South of Kafr Shamis, the 7th Division confronted a Jabhat Al-Nusra contingent near Tal Al-Akhdar (Green Hill), as they attempted to storm this hill from the east.
Fierce clashes were reported at the town of Da’el between the SAA’s 5th Armored Division and militants from the FSA near the Kuwaiti neighborhood to the west; this battle resulted in the death of three 5th Division soldiers and 8 FSA militants.
The Syrian Arab Air Force (SAAF) launched a multitude of airstrikes in the Dara’a Governorate, including the cities of Jassim, Nawa, Sheikh Miskeen, Inkhil, Tal Al-Harra, Busra Al-Sham, and Al-Lajat.
The SAA’s 36th Brigade of the 5th Division attacked an agglomeration of militants from Jabhat Al-Nusra and the Islamic State of Iraq and Al-Sham (ISIS) west of Tal Asfar in Al-Lajat; this led to the death of 12 militants, including Majd Hamid Al-Bassem, Ismaa’eel Khaled Raylaani, and ‘Umar Yousif Al-Hamadeh.
